The United States has warned its citizens in Iran to leave the country immediately due to escalating protests and increased security risks.

In a notice issued by Virtual Embassy Tehran, managed by the U.S. Department of State, Americans are advised: “Leave Iran now”, and to plan their departure without waiting for assistance from the U.S. government.

The security alert warns of heightened protests, potential violence, arrests, internet disruptions, and increased security measures.

U.S. authorities emphasize that any visible association with the U.S. could lead to detention, as Iran does not recognize dual nationality and treats U.S.-Iran dual citizens solely as Iranian nationals.

Americans are advised to leave via land routes, including borders with Armenia or Turkey, if safe. Those unable to leave are instructed to stay in secure locations, avoid demonstrations, maintain a low profile, and stock essential food, water, and medications.
