Police find weapons, ammunition and hand grenades in an abandoned house in Zvecan

The Kosovo Police have found and seized an arsenal of weapons and ammunition in an abandoned house in the village of Joshevik, Zvečan municipality.

According to the Police announcement, on January 24, 2026, at around 09:20, following information received through operational channels, officers carried out a search of the house, where they found and seized:

  • 1 AK-47 automatic rifle
  • 1 semi-automatic double-barrel rifle
  • 10 empty magazines
  • 6 magazines loaded with 30 rounds each
  • 84 rounds of ammunition for an automatic rifle
  • 14 rounds of ammunition for a semi-automatic rifle
  • 1 ammunition belt
  • 2 M50 hand grenades
  • Weapon cleaning equipment

Regarding the case, the State Prosecutor has been notified and has instructed the initiation of investigations for the criminal offense of “Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons.”

The Kosovo Police stated that, at this stage, no persons have been arrested in connection with the case.

At the end of the statement, the Kosovo Police thanked citizens for their cooperation and continued assistance, encouraging them to report any suspicious cases or illegal activities to the emergency number 192 or to the nearest police station.
“Only through mutual cooperation can we ensure a safer environment for all citizens, without distinction,” the statement said.
