The U.S. analytical center, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), has published new estimates regarding losses in Russia’s war against Ukraine, highlighting figures experts describe as “extraordinary.”

According to the report, Ukraine’s total losses since the beginning of the large-scale invasion range between 500,000 and 600,000 people, including those killed, wounded, and missing.

Of these, approximately 100,000 to 140,000 are believed to have been killed in combat.

Russian losses are even higher, affecting up to 1.2 million people, of whom about 325,000 have been killed.

Analysts emphasize that these figures align with investigations by journalists and volunteer groups that rely on open-source data.

However, the number of wounded is difficult to determine, as many return to the front after treatment, and some data remains hidden.

The report underscores that since World War II, no major world power has suffered losses of this scale in any conflict.
