Peja Prosecutor’s Office Awaits Recount Completion Before Taking Legal Action

The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Peja is awaiting the completion of the ongoing vote recount before analyzing the evidence and initiating further legal proceedings, the office confirmed.

Chief Prosecutor Lumturije Vuçetaj met with police representatives to discuss coordination between the Prosecutor’s Office and the Kosovo Police regarding potential actions related to the election results of candidate lists.

According to the statement, on January 19, the Prosecutor’s Office authorized the police to collect information related to the counting of votes for candidates.

“Regarding the electoral process, the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Peja authorized the Kosovo Police on January 19 to gather information on the counting of votes for candidates of political parties. We are now awaiting the completion of the recount. Once we receive all findings, each piece of evidence submitted by the Kosovo Police to the state prosecutor will be analyzed, and further legal actions will be undertaken,” the statement reads.

The meeting also addressed coordination between the Prosecutor’s Office and the Regional Directorate of the Kosovo Police in Peja in combating crime and ensuring public safety. The Prosecutor’s Office emphasized its commitment, alongside the police, to upholding the rule of law and prosecuting individuals who commit criminal offenses.
