“Hello, I’m Alban Dervishi, born and raised in Tirana. ‘Çun Petronini’ in high school. I was only 16 years old, had finished my second year of high school, and then we moved to New York.
I’m very proud that this June, I will take command of the USS Pearl Harbor. I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life, and it’s an honor because throughout our careers, we dedicate a lot of time to reach this peak, and now I have an incredible opportunity, and I can’t wait to carry out the mission.
Whether it was my father or grandfather, both were military, so the army always attracted me, and then America, specifically the America with the largest military in the world. This opportunity came to me, and I said, why not join the U.S. military.
Honestly, I started as a simple sailor. Everything went step by step, one more opportunity, and things moved forward. Throughout my career, I’ve been on 7 different ships and sailed across every ocean of the world, including critical operations such as those in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other operations,” he said.
