Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has continued his accusations against Kosovo, making unsubstantiated claims regarding the treatment of the Serbian community and Kosovo’s institutions.
His remarks came after reactions in Albania to Vučić’s earlier statements that Serbia was considering the possibility of diverting the course of the Iber River.
Speaking to Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), Vučić said that the issue of the Iber River was an “internal matter” for Serbia and questioned what connection Albania had to the matter.
“It is our internal matter. I do not know what connection the Iber River has with Albania,” Vučić said.
He also referred to the Ribariq area, saying that Serbia must first assess the situation there before deciding on its next steps.
However, during his statement, Vučić once again turned his attention to Kosovo, making accusations against its institutions and alleging mistreatment of Serbs in Kosovo.
According to Vučić, Albanians are using these issues to “cover up all their crimes against the Serbian people,” citing alleged arrests, harassment and, as he put it, mistreatment of Serbs.
“Arrests, harassment of Serbs, demolishing houses, literally beating Serbs simply because they are Serbs everywhere,” Vučić said.
The Serbian president did not provide evidence to support these claims in his statement.
Vučić further accused Kosovo of allegedly carrying out a process of “terrorization” in cooperation with international structures, which he claimed was aimed at undermining Serbia’s institutions in Kosovo and strengthening Kosovo’s institutions.
According to him, this process is intended to weaken the institutions that Serbia claims to maintain in Kosovo and strengthen Kosovo’s institutions, which he described as having no basis in international law.
Vučić’s latest remarks come amid his continued rhetoric against Kosovo, in which he frequently makes claims of discrimination and mistreatment of Serbs in Kosovo without providing concrete evidence to substantiate them.
Meanwhile, Kosovo’s institutions have repeatedly stressed that actions against individuals and structures in the north of the country are related to the implementation of the laws of the Republic of Kosovo and the functioning of its constitutional and institutional order.
