Seven Serbian prosecutors who resigned from their positions in 2022 have officially been removed from duty after Acting President of Kosovo Albulena Haxhiu signed the necessary decrees following the decision of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council.
Their resignations left gaps within Kosovo’s justice system and contributed to years of institutional uncertainty. Instead of continuing to fulfill their responsibilities as prosecutors, they chose to abandon their positions, creating a situation that delayed the normal functioning of judicial institutions.
The move by Kosovo’s institutions closes a prolonged process and reinforces the principle that no individual can obstruct the functioning of the state or create legal uncertainty through unfinished procedures.
Albulena Haxhiu emphasized that Kosovo will continue to act in accordance with the Constitution and the law, protecting the integrity and independence of its institutions.
