The Kosovo Police and the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor have announced that they are investigating a number of cases involving suspected external interference and unlawful activities aimed at influencing the free will of citizens ahead of the early parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.

According to the statement, foreign interference in elections poses a serious threat to democracy, national sovereignty, and the free expression of citizens’ electoral choices.

“As a result of investigative and operational actions, on May 19, 2026, seven individuals were arrested on suspicion of criminal offenses related to violating voters’ freedom of choice and exerting political pressure in the municipality of Gračanica. Furthermore, on June 4, 2026, another individual was arrested in the same municipality on suspicion of offering and accepting bribes in connection with voting,” the statement said.

The Police and the Prosecution assessed that these cases demonstrate ongoing attempts to influence the electoral process, while also highlighting the determination of state institutions to safeguard the integrity of the elections.

“Relevant institutions continue to process additional information and closely monitor any activity that may undermine the integrity of the early parliamentary elections of June 7, 2026,” the statement added.

Citizens were also urged to exercise their right to vote freely and without pressure.

The Kosovo Police and the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor called on all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, language, or political affiliation, to report any suspected cases of pressure, threats, or unlawful interference in the electoral process.
