The President of the Republic, H.E. Bajram Begaj, hosted today the Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.
President Begaj, after congratulating Admiral Cavo Dragone on his new role and thanking him for selecting Albania for his first visit to the region, reiterated his appreciation for NATO’s mission and role.
The President emphasized that NATO’s presence in the region, and specifically the presence of KFOR in Kosovo, demonstrates the importance and attention NATO places on our region.
“Let us be together, let us discuss together, let us find solutions together, because only if we are unified and united, we will be stronger. Peace and security are two magic words, not only for our region but for the times we are living in. We must work hard to ensure them,” stated the President of the Republic.
He further stressed that Kosovo must be supported in its efforts to be part of international organizations and to enhance cooperation within NATO and regional initiatives.
President Begaj also highlighted that Albania has increased its defense budget, continues the modernization of its Armed Forces, and has increased its representation in NATO missions and operations.
“Investment in infrastructure projects, such as Corridor VIII and the new Porto Romano port, which create strategic connectivity and increase military mobility, is very important,” emphasized President Begaj.
