Two people lost their lives, and six others were injured following a collision between two freight trains near Sofia, Bulgarian media report.
In response to the incident, Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev dismissed Deputy Transport Minister Biser Minchev, who was responsible for rail transport oversight.
According to Sofia’s Chief of Police, the victims of the accident include one train conductor and an employee of the Bulgarian State Railways.
Investigation Underway
The trains were traveling on the same track due to an error, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. The aim is to identify and hold accountable those responsible for managing train movements.
