Following a morning session with the Head of State, European Council President Antonio Costa has arrived at the government headquarters to hold critical talks with Kosovo’s Caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, has continued his intensive diplomatic itinerary in Prishtina, sitting down with the Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
The bilateral meeting is currently underway at the central government building, following the strict timeline of Costa’s high-stakes tour through the Western Balkans.
The discussions between Kurti and Costa are expected to focus heavily on Kosovo’s immediate macroeconomic stability, structural economic benchmarks, and the pressing domestic conditions required to unlock frozen allocations from the EU’s multi-billion-euro Growth Plan.
Assessing Kosovo’s Political Landscape
The meeting with Kurti represents the second major institutional stop for the European chief today.
- Morning Briefing: Earlier in the morning, Costa was hosted by the Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, at the Presidency, where they evaluated the ongoing constitutional challenges facing the country.
- Broad Political Outreach: In an effort to look past the current caretaker status of the government, President Costa is also scheduled to hold joint and individual consultations with the chairpersons of Kosovo’s major political parties in Prishtina.
The European Council delegation will wrap up its engagements in Prishtina later today before departing for Belgrade, where Costa is scheduled to meet with top Serbian leadership tomorrow, June 4.
