The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced the temporary closure of several sections of the Prizren Castle for visitors, citing potential safety risks.
According to the announcement, the decision follows professional assessments that identified deterioration in parts of the monument’s internal structures. As a result, the affected areas will be marked and restricted until further notice.
The Ministry also confirmed the immediate suspension of the use of castle spaces for cultural, artistic, and independent initiatives until safety conditions are fully ensured.
“This decision is aimed at protecting cultural heritage and ensuring the safety of citizens,” the statement said.
Authorities added that the public will be informed in due course about further developments, including possible timelines for the full reopening of the site.
The Ministry has called on citizens and stakeholders for understanding, stressing that the measures are intended to preserve one of the country’s most important cultural heritage monuments.
