Citizens across Kosovo have reacted strongly to the Kosovo Specialist Chambers’ verdict against former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.

The phrase “Not in my name” has become one of the main messages accompanying public reactions, appearing both at gatherings and across social media.

Many citizens have shared photographs of the four former KLA leaders alongside messages rejecting the verdict and expressing opposition to the court’s decision.

The sentences handed down on Wednesday were 25 years in prison for Thaçi, 25 years for Krasniqi, 18 years for Veseli and 13 years for Selimi.

For many Kosovars, the verdict has prompted a broader debate over the legacy of the Kosovo war and the treatment of those who were among the leading figures of the country’s liberation struggle.
