Clashes between protesters and police took place at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara.

According to Turkish media reports, a group of aggressive protesters blocked the road with garbage containers and set them on fire.

Despite police calls to disperse, the protesters continued to block the road and started throwing stones at the police.

To calm them down, law enforcement officers used tear gas and water cannons.

The incident occurred when one of the leaders of the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) arrived at the university, planning to hold a rally in support of the arrested mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, along with other party officials, supporters, and students.

For the moment, the incident has ended, the provocateurs have retreated, and the road they blocked is now occupied by CHP supporters who arrived specifically to express their support for Imamoglu.
