Kosovo’s Defense Minister, Ejup Maqedonci, held a significant meeting today with retired U.S. General Wesley Clark, who led NATO’s decisive air campaign against the military forces of the oppressive Serbian regime in 1999.
Minister Maqedonci expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the people of Kosovo, emphasizing the transformative impact of NATO’s intervention. “The air support provided under General Clark’s command was crucial for ending the conflict and securing a future of freedom and dignity for our nation,” said Maqedonci.
During the meeting, the minister provided an in-depth update on the Kosovo Security Force’s (KSF) substantial progress in achieving strategic goals laid out in the Comprehensive Transition Plan. He highlighted the KSF’s high level of professionalism, crediting the enduring defense and security collaboration between Kosovo and its international partners.
“These partnerships, especially the invaluable contributions of leaders like General Clark, have been fundamental in building a capable and committed security force,” Maqedonci added. He reflected emotionally on the shared history, saying, “Meetings like this serve as a poignant reminder of our collective struggle for freedom and the extraordinary efforts that changed our destiny.”
