Rising Regional Escalation
The siren activations in Manama mark the second major defense alert within hours, amid an accelerating regional conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran:
- Targeting Gulf Infrastructure: Regional hostilities have intensified since February’s joint U.S.-Israeli military offensive against Tehran. In response, Iran has launched repeated drone and missile strikes targeting Gulf nations hosting U.S. military bases and strategic assets.
- Breakdown of Truce: Although Washington and Tehran signed a Pakistani-brokered memorandum of understanding to halt hostilities last month, negotiations over a permanent peace agreement collapsed last week over maritime access and blockades in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to renewed direct military strikes.
