Emergency Situation Lifted in Malishevë After Floodwaters Recede

The Municipal Emergency Staff of Malishevë has officially decided to lift the state of emergency imposed following recent heavy rainfall and flooding, after assessing that the situation has stabilized.

According to an official statement by the Municipality of Malishevë, the decision was taken after a field assessment and a meeting of the Emergency Staff, which concluded that water levels have dropped and that the current condition no longer poses an immediate risk.

“The Municipal Emergency Staff for managing the situation caused by recent rainfall, which was accompanied by flooding and significant damage, has decided to lift the emergency situation in the Municipality of Malishevë. However, emergency services will remain on heightened alert. This decision was taken today following a meeting of the Emergency Staff and an assessment of the situation on the ground. According to official data, water levels have receded and the situation is currently stable,” the municipal statement said.

Damage Assessment Process Underway

Despite the improvement in conditions, the flooding period has resulted in considerable material damage. Mayor Ekrem Kastrati confirmed that a Damage Assessment Commission has already been established.

He called on all affected residents to submit requests for damage assessment at the Municipality of Malishevë’s Reception Office, so that losses can be formally documented and processed.

Authorities emphasized that while the emergency status has ended, municipal and emergency services will continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any potential deterioration.
