The European Union Office in Kosovo marked International NGO Day by announcing that more than €880 million will be allocated for the implementation of Kosovo’s Reform Agenda.

EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivo Orav, highlighted the crucial role of civil society organizations and the media in strengthening democracy and advancing Kosovo’s European integration process.

“Today, on World NGO Day, we recognize organizations that work in the public interest, drive social change, and advocate for rights and well-being. Civil society and media have been invaluable partners in Kosovo’s EU accession journey, as they understand the needs and pulse of society. Kosovo is fortunate to have them,” Orav stated.

He also acknowledged the impact of the U.S. decision to suspend a significant portion of its global aid, which affects NGO programs in Kosovo.

Orav emphasized that the EU’s Growth Plan includes €880 million for Kosovo’s reforms, with an initial pre-financing of up to 7% of the total amount, pending parliamentary ratification.
