The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, stated after meeting with party leaders that the process for electing a president cannot move forward without the signatures of the presidential candidates. Only after obtaining the required support can the Assembly proceed with the remaining procedures.

Haxhiu emphasized that once all other procedural steps are completed, a parliamentary session will be convened:

“For this matter, please discuss with the representatives of LVV. Naturally, as the Assembly, we must fulfill our responsibilities. As soon as I have the signatures—because you know 30 signatures from two candidates are required—we will call the session and proceed. First of all, we will meet with all political parties represented in the Assembly of Kosovo. According to interpretations, everything should conclude by March 4, but I cannot act without having the candidates’ signatures.”

This statement underscores the formal requirements and procedural safeguards in the Kosovo parliamentary system for electing a president, highlighting the necessity of broad political support before moving forward.
