Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani has confirmed that Kenya has officially recognized Kosovo’s independence. She shared the signed decision from Kenyan President William Ruto, which was formally delivered to Kosovo’s Presidency.
Osmani hailed the recognition as a testament to Kenya’s continued support for Kosovo’s right to freedom, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
A Milestone for Kosovo’s Diplomacy
“In the name of Kosovo’s institutions and citizens, I sincerely thank President Ruto for this just and significant decision, as well as the Kenyan institutions and people for supporting this major diplomatic step,” Osmani stated.
She recalled her previous meetings with Ruto, during which Kosovo’s recognition was a key discussion point. According to Osmani, Ruto had repeatedly assured that Kenya would soon recognize Kosovo, based on international law and the long struggle of its people.
Strengthening Kosovo-Kenya Relations
Expressing gratitude to former President and Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli for his role in Kosovo’s diplomatic efforts, Osmani emphasized that this recognition marks another step forward in Kosovo’s international integration.
Kosovo and Kenya are now expected to deepen bilateral ties across various sectors, with Osmani anticipating the establishment of formal diplomatic relations and a long-term partnership between the two nations.
