Kosovo’s Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, has called on German businesses and investors to explore opportunities in the country’s energy sector, highlighting potential investments in renewable energy, energy storage and energy-efficient heating systems.

Rizvanolli made the appeal while attending the third German-Kosovar Economic Forum in Prishtina, held under the theme “Driving the Next Economy.”

Organized by the German-Kosovar Chamber of Commerce, the forum aims to promote Kosovo’s economic potential, attract foreign investment and strengthen the country’s integration into European markets.

In her address, Rizvanolli emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties between Kosovo and Germany, identifying the energy sector as a key area for further investment and cooperation, according to the Ministry of Economy.

She noted that Germany has supported Kosovo since its struggle for freedom and independence, contributing to institution-building, economic development and the country’s European prospects. Rizvanolli said she expected this longstanding relationship to translate into increased investment and stronger business partnerships between the two countries.

Renewable energy and storage offer investment opportunities

The minister highlighted opportunities for private investment through competitive energy auctions, as well as the development of the energy storage capacity needed to support Kosovo’s energy system.

She said cooperation could extend beyond financing projects to include construction, equipment supply, and the operation and maintenance of energy facilities.

Rizvanolli urged German companies and investors to prepare for upcoming renewable energy auctions and explore partnerships with local businesses.

She also pointed to growing investment opportunities in energy-efficient heating systems, presenting the sector as another area where German expertise and investment could contribute to Kosovo’s development.

Focus on projects with tangible economic benefits

Rizvanolli said the goal was to turn the partnership between Kosovo and Germany into successful projects with a direct impact on the country’s economic development.

The forum brings together representatives of institutions from Kosovo and Germany, business leaders, investors and experts to exchange experience and identify new opportunities for economic cooperation.

The event comes as Kosovo seeks to attract foreign capital and expand its energy infrastructure, with renewable generation, storage capacity and energy efficiency among the areas highlighted by the government as potential priorities for investment.
