“Next year, we will be faced with elections 99%.”
This was declared by the leader of the second-largest party in the election result of February 9, Memli Krasniqi, during an interview on the show Rubikon.
Krasniqi made this announcement, even before the new legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo is constituted, linking it to what he says is the lack of 80 votes necessary for the election of the new president of Kosovo, as Vjosa Osmani’s mandate ends in April 2026.
“We all know that next year we will face elections, 99%. There is a 99% chance for elections, no one can gather 80 votes to elect a new president. In the case of Atifete Jahjaga, it was a completely different situation, it’s not comparable, at that time there was another coalition. There are those who tell us, why don’t you let Albin Kurti form the government, what’s the big deal, let them stay, they can’t do anything, the opposition is strong, he’s weak, you can topple him,” Krasniqi said.
“This is a tactical, political thought that prioritizes party interest. We in the PDK cannot think like this. For me, Kosovo’s interest is bigger, and I am ready to take responsibility with Bedri Hamza as prime minister,” Krasniqi added on Klankosova.
