Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio have agreed in a phone conversation to continue dialogue and collaborate in resolving the conflict in Ukraine, following the recent talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Russian authorities.

“Sergei Lavrov and Marco Rubio confirmed their willingness to work on restoring intergovernmental dialogue based on mutual respect, in line with the discussion between the two presidents,” stated the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Lavrov and Rubio also agreed to renew regular contacts, including preparing for a high-level Russian-American summit.

Both expressed a “shared desire to cooperate on major international issues, including finding a solution to the Ukraine issue, as well as the situation in Palestine and the broader Middle East,” according to the Russian diplomatic statement.
