Kosovo’s Defense Minister, Ejup Maqedonci, revealed that the Serbian Security Council’s meeting, urgently called by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, was attended by commanders involved in training terrorists responsible for the attack in Banjska. Specifically, the commander of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, Nenad Zonić, and the commander of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, Miroslav Talijan, participated in the meeting. These brigades are suspected of preparing and training members of the terrorist organization “Civil Defense/Northern Brigade,” who later executed the terrorist attack on September 24 in the village of Banjska, Zvečan, where police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed.

Maqedonci highlighted that the meeting was convened by Vučić just two days after Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, publicly denounced provocations by specialized units of the Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) near the Kosovo border, and a day after James O’Brien, the American Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, made it clear to Serbia that the movement of Serbian troops near the Kosovo border was being monitored and that the use of force would be unacceptable.
