The Basic Court of Mitrovica has conducted an on-site inspection at the location where 17 illegally constructed structures were demolished near Lake Ujman in July, following legal challenges filed against the public hydroeconomic company Ibër-Lepenc.
The 17 structures were demolished during an operation carried out by inspectors from Kosovo’s Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure. The buildings had been constructed without permits on property belonging to Ibër-Lepenc, near the lake.
Several lawsuits were subsequently filed against the company, with a court hearing initially scheduled for August 12. However, court officials went to the site the following day to conduct an on-site inspection as part of the proceedings.
Hateme Haxhaj, spokesperson for the Basic Court of Mitrovica, confirmed the inspection to KosovaPress.
“The court went to the site today for an inspection at the location where the structures were demolished,” Haxhaj said.
The on-site inspection is part of the judicial process surrounding the demolitions and the legal disputes involving the affected properties.
Meanwhile, several Serbian media outlets, including RTS, reported that Kosovo’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development had asked owners of several other structures near Lake Ujman to vacate the properties within 10 days.
According to those reports, the structures are also suspected of having been built without authorization, specifically in an area known as Međedi Potok.
The developments come amid continued disputes over construction, land use and property rights around Lake Ujman, an important water and energy resource in northern Kosovo.
