On Monday, Russia announced that it had downed nine Ukrainian drones that attempted to attack part of the TurkStream gas pipeline infrastructure, through which Russian gas flows to Turkey and Europe, calling the attack an “act of energy terrorism.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the attack targeted a compressor station in the Krasnodar region of southern Russia.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Alexei Miller, the head of Gazprom, had discussed the alleged incident with their Turkish counterparts.
