New Head of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Kosovo and Bosnia Appointed Croatian MEP Davor Ivo Stier has been elected as the head of the European Parliament delegation for relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, as announced by N1. The delegation will pay special attention to the European perspective of Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the reforms that need to be implemented on the path to European Union membership.
“As the chair of this delegation, I co-chair two joint parliamentary committees: the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association with the EU-BiH and the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association with the EU-Kosovo. Following the granting of candidate status, BiH now has the opportunity to achieve and fulfill its reform agenda, which is in the interest of the peoples and citizens of BiH and the EU itself. With this aim, I intend to hold a session of the joint parliamentary committee in October. Kosovo has also been promised a European perspective, and I aim to work diligently towards this in cooperation with my colleagues from the European Parliament and the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.”
“Peace, security, dialogue, and the normalization of relations with Serbia, the protection of minority rights, and the rights of all citizens of Kosovo, along with the implementation of constitutional order throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, will be priority issues for the government’s work,” said Stier.
He noted that the geopolitical challenges facing the EU require stronger engagement in Southeast Europe.
In this context, stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo are of vital importance for the entire continent.
European parliamentary diplomacy will contribute by promoting the values of peace, freedom, democracy, and the rule of law in dialogue and collaboration with colleagues from the joint parliamentary committees for the EU-BiH and EU-Kosovo.
