President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti today attended the ceremony for the change of command of NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR.
The two state leaders were seen greeting each other and were seated in the same row. This comes at a time when their relationship has cooled, with the president publicly stating that she is not being consulted by the government on issues of national interest. Osmani had also said, “they can’t get rid of me,” referring to Kurti.
This command change ceremony was held at KFOR’s headquarters in Pristina, where the outgoing KFOR commander, Major General Özkan Ulutas, officially handed over his duties to Major General Enrico Barduani.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Kurti had welcomed KFOR Commander Ulutas in a farewell meeting.
Major General Enrico Barduani is the 14th Italian officer to take command and will be the 29th commander of KFOR.
