Kosovo’s acting President, Albulena Haxhiu, has invited the leaders of parliamentary parties to a meeting on Friday to discuss preparations for the constitutive session of the Assembly. However, two opposition parties will be represented by senior officials instead of their party leaders.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) confirmed that its vice president, Vlora Çitaku, will attend the meeting on the party’s behalf. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) will be represented by its deputy leader, Besnik Tahiri, according to party spokesperson Kushtrim Xhemaili.
Earlier on Monday, the Assembly of Kosovo announced that Haxhiu would convene the meeting with political party leaders as part of preparations for the constitutive session of the 11th legislature.
The gathering comes one day after the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) is scheduled to hold an extraordinary assembly to determine its new leadership. It remains unclear whether LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku or another party representative will attend, as the party had not confirmed its participation at the time of publication.
According to the Assembly’s announcement, the meeting will take place on Friday, July 31, with the agenda focused exclusively on preparations for the constitutive session of the new legislature.
