Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has reacted after the closing of the polling stations in the north.
Through a Facebook post, Osmani said that Kosovo provided citizens of the northern municipalities the opportunity to remove current mayors and elect new ones.
“The citizens largely did not seize this opportunity. Unfortunately, this mainly happened due to pressure from Belgrade, executed by the Serbian List and illegal criminal structures.”
The President said that once again, Serbia unlawfully intervened in another state’s electoral process.
“Once again, Vucic broke the promise he had given to international partners,” she added.
“But, Kosovo once again demonstrated maturity, organization, and full respect for laws and the constitution, offering all communities, without distinction, the opportunity to choose who they want to represent them,” the President further wrote.
Osmani thanked the Central Election Commission, security institutions, as well as our partners for their work, dedication, and cooperation.
“With the organization of today’s process, Kosovo has fulfilled all the conditions required by the EU. Unjust measures against Kosovo must be lifted immediately,” Osmani concluded.
