An industrial building in the Mordovia region of Russia was hit by Ukrainian drones on April 5, said the governor of the region in a statement on Telegram.

Governor Artyom Zdunov stated that emergency teams had been dispatched to the scene, but he did not specify which industrial building was attacked or if there were any casualties from the attack.

Baza, a Telegram channel associated with Russian law enforcement, claimed that an optical fiber factory in the city of Saransk, 820 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border, was attacked.

A video was also published on this channel, which they said showed drone strikes on the factory.

Meanwhile, authorities in Kyiv said that Ukrainian air defenses shot down 51 of the 92 drones Russia launched overnight.

In a statement, the Ukrainian Air Force said that 31 more drones were “lost” — referring to the use of electronic equipment to disrupt drone operations, according to REL reports.

Ukraine, which has been facing the war initiated by Russia since 2022, said that the latest Russian attacks caused damage in the regions of Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk.

Reports of new attacks in Ukraine and Russia came a day after Moscow’s forces carried out deadly attacks in Ukraine.
