Deputies from Srpska Lista left the Assembly hall during a plenary session after Speaker Albulena Haxhiu announced and welcomed the court verdict related to the Banjska attack.
The decision of the Basic Court of Prishtina, which issued sentences against those accused of the 2023 attack, was met with applause from the majority of lawmakers present. However, the reaction prompted Srpska Lista representatives to walk out in protest.
According to the ruling, Vladimir Tolić and Blagoje Spasojević were sentenced to life imprisonment, while Dušan Maksimović received a 30-year prison sentence.
The attack, which took place in September 2023 in Banjska, resulted in the death of Kosovo police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku. Several others were injured, including police officer Alban Rashiti, while Çlirim Shaqiri, Mirsad Kryeziu, and Sedat Dushi sustained injuries.
The development highlights ongoing political tensions in Kosovo following the court’s ruling on one of the most serious security incidents in recent years.
