British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron held discussions today regarding the new tariffs imposed by the White House, agreeing that no option should be ruled out in crafting a response.

According to a statement from Downing Street, the two leaders agreed that a trade war would serve no one’s interests but emphasized that “nothing should be off the table.”

The statement further noted that Starmer and Macron shared deep concerns about the potential global economic and security impacts, particularly in Southeast Asia.

Alongside the tariffs discussion, the two leaders reviewed the progress of talks led by the United Kingdom and France aimed at forming a “coalition of the willing” — a group of nations exploring ways to support Ukraine if a peace agreement is signed.

Starmer is expected to spend the weekend holding further discussions with global leaders on strategies to counter Trump’s tariff measures.
