The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, described the past week as intensive, referring to the diplomatic battle over Kosovo during his stay in the United States.
He called it a struggle for Serbia’s positioning in both economic and political terms, noting that he had difficult discussions.
“It has been an intensive week in New York. Seven days of war for Serbia’s positioning economically and politically. We made new and important economic contacts, presented the potential of our country, spoke with everyone, and learned from others.
I had challenging conversations regarding Kosovo. It is our responsibility to continue acting with caution, to maintain peace, and ensure the survival of our population in Kosovo while upholding the legal and political sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.
We must safeguard our national interests, our independence, and security, learn as much as possible, and reach out to the world. This will bring extraordinary growth for the country and prosperity for our people. Therefore, we must push things forward, despite those who would hinder and stop the country, to fight swiftly and not lose any time on the path toward a better future.”
