Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the war in Ukraine is “very close” to ending and expressed optimism about reaching a settlement between Russia and Ukraine.
“I really think the end of the war in Ukraine is getting very close,” Trump told reporters as he departed the White House for a trip to China.
Trump’s remarks come only days after Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Saturday that the war in Ukraine was approaching its conclusion.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin reiterated Putin’s position on Tuesday after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia has no intention of ending the war.
