US President Donald Trump has definitively dismissed speculation about a potential conversation with Elon Musk, publicly calling the tech billionaire a man who “has lost his mind.”

In an interview with ABC News, when asked if he would take a call from the Tesla and SpaceX founder, Trump responded sharply: “I’m not particularly interested in talking to him. He’s lost his mind,” Trump declared, adding that it is Musk who wishes to speak with him, but he himself is “not ready for it yet.”

The public feud between the two prominent figures reportedly began after Musk publicly criticized Trump’s proposed bill for tax cuts and increased spending. The billionaire had labeled the plan as dangerous for economic stability, warning it could lead to a recession. He even wrote that Trump could not win the elections without his support.

Trump did not hold back in his reaction. In several harsh posts, he had threatened to cancel government contracts and subsidies for Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Tesla. Musk, in turn, had brought up Trump in the context of the Jeffrey Epstein files, striking an even harder political blow.

Within a single day of their initial spat, Tesla’s shares plummeted over 14%, resulting in losses of approximately $150 billion. On Friday morning, following reports of a possible conversation between them, Tesla’s stock price recovered by about 5%. However, with Trump’s latest comments, it appears a dialogue between Musk and Trump is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
