Two Kosovo Police officers serving in the North Mitrovica regional directorate have been hit with disciplinary actions following an internal probe into “severe discrediting conduct” while on official duty.
The administrative measures were confirmed to local media by Veton Elshani, the Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the North Mitrovica region, who clarified the scope of the internal investigation.
According to Elshani, both officers faced an immediate three-day suspension from their duties following reports of behavioral violations that breached the police code of ethics.
Internal Action and Operational Transfer
Following the brief suspension period, the officers were permitted to return to active service. However, management enacted additional structural changes to ensure professional distance and maintain local trust.
“The two officers were suspended for three days and have since returned to duty. However, for operational reasons and to preserve institutional integrity, one of the officers has been permanently transferred to a different police station,” Elshani stated.
Regional police authorities emphasized that the swift disciplinary action was strictly a matter of internal ethics and protecting the public image of the law enforcement institution. The case was handled entirely through standard internal disciplinary channels, and no criminal charges have been filed at this stage.
