Two Serbian nationals have been detained by the Kosovo Police in Prizren under suspicion of falsely presenting themselves as officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia (MUP).
According to the spokesperson for the police in the Prizren region, Vesel Gashi, after interrogation, ten individuals were released, while two others were detained for impersonating MUP officials.
Gashi further confirmed that a 48-hour detention order was issued for the two suspects.
“On April 6, 2025, around 12:00, three vehicles with Serbian license plates, carrying 12 individuals – Serbian nationals – were stopped near the ‘Arasta’ bridge. The individuals and vehicles were searched, and they were subsequently escorted to the Prizren police station for verification and questioning. After the interrogation, ten individuals were released, while two were detained for presenting themselves as MUP officers but failed to provide any documentation to prove their claim,” Gashi stated in a police confirmation.
Earlier today, Minister Xhelal Sveçla provided details of a broader operation conducted by Kosovo’s security agencies. On April 5 and 6, 2025, a total of 16 individuals were detained, traveling in four vehicles with license plates from Kragujevac, Serbia.
Preliminary data suggests that these groups were aiming to gather information about potential targets within the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
Sveçla emphasized that there is evidence linking the detained individuals to “Serbian military intelligence structures and members of the terrorist group involved in the Banjskë attack.”
Investigations also revealed that one of the arrested individuals is a prime suspect in the killing of Kosovo police officer Afrim Bunjaku.
“Preliminary investigations have confirmed that a Serbian police official holding the rank of sergeant has close familial ties with a member of the Banjskë terrorist group, Nemanja Radivojević, known as ‘Gandi’. He is closely related to Vladimir Radivojević, known as ‘Mami’, the main suspect in the murder of Kosovo police officer Afrim Bunjaku. Another detained military official, a first-class captain, has connections to former Serbian military intelligence general Jovan Milanović, known for his involvement in leaking NATO data before the bombing of Serbian targets,” Sveçla explained.
