The United States has suspended its military operation to escort commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz less than 48 hours after launching it.

President Donald Trump announced that the decision followed a request from Pakistan, which has been mediating talks between Washington and Iran. According to Trump, there has been “significant progress toward a full and final agreement” with Tehran.

Despite the suspension of the escort mission, Trump emphasized that the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports will remain in place.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media described the move as a “withdrawal,” linking it to what they called Trump’s “continued failures” to reopen this critical global trade route.

Shortly before the announcement, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the initial U.S.–Israel offensive in Iran, referred to as Operation Epic Fury, had concluded after achieving its objectives.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most vital maritime corridors for global oil transport, and developments there continue to draw intense international attention.
