Ukraine and the United States are preparing a new peace proposal aimed at persuading Russia to halt aerial attacks, in what could become the latest effort to revive stalled negotiations over the war.
According to an unnamed Ukrainian source, officials from Kyiv and Washington have already held discussions on the details of the initiative, which is expected to be presented to Moscow in the coming weeks.
The proposed framework reportedly focuses on ending air strikes and creating conditions for renewed diplomatic engagement between the two sides.
Ukraine has previously submitted ceasefire proposals to Russian President Vladimir Putin, but those initiatives were rejected by the Kremlin. However, some officials now believe that mounting economic pressure on Russia—driven by sustained Ukrainian drone and missile strikes against military and strategic targets—could influence Moscow’s calculations.
The renewed diplomatic push follows a series of recent high-level contacts. On July 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to discuss strengthening efforts toward a negotiated settlement to the conflict.
While there is no indication that Russia has changed its position, the new proposal reflects ongoing coordination between Kyiv and Washington as they seek potential pathways toward de-escalation after years of war.
