Vice President JD Vance will travel to France and Germany next week, marking his first overseas trip since assuming office. During his visit, Vance will attend the AI Action Summit in Paris, followed by the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

At the AI Action Summit in Paris, scheduled for February 10-11, Vance will join global leaders and tech executives to discuss the implications of artificial intelligence. The conference will focus on how governments worldwide should address the rapid advancements in AI technology. The event will take place at the Grand Palais and comes at a time when AI developments, such as the Chinese startup DeepSeek, have raised concerns over privacy, leading to its ban in Italy.

Following the summit, Vance will travel to Germany for the Munich Security Conference from February 14-16. At this prestigious event, he will join discussions on international security and the potential threats posed by emerging technologies. The Munich conference will also provide a platform for U.S. and European leaders to address global defense priorities, following former Vice President Kamala Harris’ engagement at the event in 2023.

The Munich trip could also serve as an opportunity for the Trump administration to further engage with European leaders after its emphasis on defense spending and regional security, especially in light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
