The United States has confirmed that its naval blockade of maritime traffic to and from Iran has continued over the weekend.

President Donald Trump announced the blockade a week ago after prolonged talks between the U.S. and Iran in Pakistan failed to produce an agreement.

U.S. forces stated that they would stop or turn back ships traveling to or from Iranian shores, regardless of nationality, according to BBC.

The United States Central Command said this weekend that it has forced 23 vessels to turn back near the Strait of Hormuz since the blockade began.

In a social media post published about an hour ago, CENTCOM stated that “the blockade has completely halted economic trade entering and leaving Iran by sea.”
