On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has expressed gratitude to all those working with integrity to keep the public sphere accurate and fair.

Haxhiu stressed that the current era of fast-paced information brings major challenges in distinguishing facts from interpretation, highlighting the importance of professional media and dedicated journalists in ensuring accurate public information.

“Our time is characterized by rapid information flow, therefore the challenges of distinguishing fact from interpretation are increasingly significant. The role of professional media and committed journalists remains essential for the accurate information of citizens, because when truth is compromised, when news is mixed with manipulation, when half-truths replace facts, and when hidden interests speak on behalf of the public, citizens lose orientation and democracy is weakened,” she wrote.

She further thanked media workers who verify facts and serve the public with honesty, emphasizing that journalism with integrity remains a vital service to citizens and the state.

“Public space needs honesty, facts, verification and accountability. These are values that strengthen trust and keep our democracy healthy. I thank all media workers who verify facts, report news and serve the public with integrity. Journalism with integrity is a service to citizens and to the Republic,” Haxhiu stated.
