Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call on Saturday with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, where he expressed his gratitude for Albania’s ongoing support for Ukraine. The conversation focused on joint projects, the prospects for further cooperation, and the need for European diplomatic initiatives.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of Europe’s involvement in every decision related to the continent and Ukraine. “It is essential for Europe to be at the table for negotiations. Everything concerning Europe must be decided with Europe’s participation, and everything concerning Ukraine must involve Ukraine’s participation. We share a common vision and are taking coordinated steps toward achieving a fair and sustainable peace. We are working together to strengthen security across Europe,” Zelensky said in a post on social media.
The Ukrainian President also appreciated Albania’s unwavering support and highlighted the necessity of European unity in addressing current security challenges.
The call comes after U.S. and Russian representatives held their first discussions on the ongoing war in Ukraine in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, neither Zelensky nor any European Union representatives were invited to the talks, which sparked significant criticism.
Zelensky’s statement underlines Ukraine’s position in seeking a diplomatic solution involving key European stakeholders and signals the growing need for coordinated action among European nations for regional stability.
