Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged the United States to maintain pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin, warning that any move to ease his political and economic isolation would be dangerous.

A Fragile Truce & U.S. Concessions to Russia

  • Partial Ceasefire Deal: Ukraine and Russia have agreed to a U.S.-mediated ceasefire limiting attacks on energy infrastructure and hostilities in the Black Sea.
  • Economic Relief for Russia: In return, Washington has agreed to expand Russia’s access to global markets.
  • Zelensky’s Warning: He fears that aiding Russia’s reintegration could embolden Putin and undermine Western unity.

Putin’s Power & Threat to the West

Zelensky claims that Putin aims to rule until his death, and his ambitions extend beyond Ukraine, potentially leading to a direct confrontation with the West.

“Putin fears the U.S.-Europe alliance and hopes to divide it,” Zelensky stated, stressing the need for continued pressure.

Uncertain Path to Peace

While calling the Black Sea ceasefire a positive step, Zelensky reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to a comprehensive end to hostilities.

“We were ready for a full ceasefire,” he concluded.
