Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Russia has intensified its aerial assaults on Ukraine, deploying more than 1,180 drones, 1,360 bombs, and 10 different types of missiles in just the past week.

In a post on Facebook, Zelensky said the attacks have been relentless, causing significant material damage and injuring civilians in multiple regions of the country.

“Throughout the night, emergency teams in Kyiv were fighting fires in apartment buildings and cars after Russian drone attacks in residential neighborhoods. Unfortunately, both children and adults have been injured. All have received the necessary medical assistance. In Cherkasy, a typical dormitory was in flames,” Zelensky reported.

The president also mentioned airstrikes in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv, where a total of 165 drones were launched during the night, the majority of them being Shahed drones produced in Iran.

Zelensky criticized Russia’s hypocrisy in calling for a ceasefire on May 9, stating, “The Russians are calling for a ceasefire on May 9 while attacking Ukraine every day. This is high-level cynicism: just this week, Russia used over 1,180 drones, 1,360 bombs, and 10 different types of missiles against Ukraine.”

He called for a genuine and lasting ceasefire, one that would lead to the end of the war.

“Ukraine is ready for silence to begin every day—but not for less than a month, to bring an end to the war. If there is silence, it must be every day. If there is a ceasefire—then not for their holidays, but for every day. I thank all our partners who continue to support Ukraine and apply pressure on Russia,” Zelensky concluded.
