The Assembly of Kosovo’s Legislation Committee has convened to review the candidacies for the next president of Kosovo, as the constitutional deadline for electing the head of state approaches.
The meeting comes after the Speaker of Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, presented the presidential nominations during the parliamentary session. Following the presentation, she announced that the Committee on Legislation, Mandates and Immunities would examine the submitted documentation before the voting process begins.
Opposition deputies were not present in the parliamentary session, with less than two hours remaining before the constitutional deadline expires.
Two Candidates for the Presidency
The two candidates proposed for the presidency are:
- Glauk Konjufca
- Fatmire Mulhaxha-Kollçaku
After the committee reviews the documentation and confirms that the candidates meet the legal requirements, the Assembly is expected to proceed with preparations for the presidential vote.
The developments come amid heightened political tensions and the opposition’s boycott of the session, which could complicate efforts to secure the required parliamentary support for electing the next president.
