Kosovo recorded an annual inflation rate of 6% in February 2026, according to the latest report from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK), which published the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).
According to the report, the overall harmonized consumer price index rose on average by 6.0% compared to February 2025, while monthly inflation stood at 0.6% in February 2026.
ASK explained that the 6% increase was mainly driven by price rises in several groups and subgroups of the COICOP classification, including:
- Other services related to personal transport equipment (+42.5%)
- Airfare tickets (+39.0%)
- Water supply and various housing-related services (+33.4%)
- Solid fuels such as firewood and pellets (+16.8%)
- Fruits (+16.4%)
- Maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment (+15.1%)
- Meat (+14.7%)
Significant increases were also recorded in:
- Package holidays (+13.2%)
- Outpatient medical services (+9.6%)
- Hotel services (+9.5%)
- Coffee, tea, and cocoa (+9.3%)
- Fish (+8.0%)
- Sugar, jam, honey, chocolate, and sweets (+7.4%)
- Household tools and garden equipment (+6.7%)
- Personal care (+6.6%)
- Vegetables (+6.4%)
- Alcoholic beverages (+6.4%)
- Goods and services for routine household maintenance (+6.1%)
- Milk, cheese, and eggs (+5.6%)
Additional increases were seen in housing maintenance (5.5%), food products (5.4%), personal items (5.2%), bread and cereals (5.2%), tobacco (4.2%), medical products and equipment (3.9%), furniture and carpets (3.9%), clothing (3.3%), oils and fats (3.1%), and mineral water and soft drinks (2.7%), with a combined impact of 6.4% on the HICP.
On the other hand, fuel and lubricants for personal transport equipment recorded a price decrease of 7.6%, contributing –0.4% to the HICP.
In terms of monthly comparison, February 2026 compared to January 2026 shows inflation of 0.6%.
ASK noted that the monthly increase was mainly driven by price rises in:
- Other services related to personal transport equipment (+24.4%)
- Vegetables (+5.8%)
- Fruits (+4.0%)
- Audio-visual and information processing equipment (+3.8%)
- Outpatient services (+2.4%)
- Meat (+2.4%)
- Hotel services (+1.9%)
- Sugar, jam, honey, chocolate, and sweets (+1.9%)
- Household and garden tools (+1.7%)
- Fuel and lubricants for personal transport (+1.5%)
- Household appliances (+1.4%)
- Coffee, tea, and cocoa (+1.3%)
- Personal care (+1.3%)
- Solid fuels such as firewood and pellets (+1.2%)
- Bread and cereals (+0.6%)
Meanwhile, monthly price decreases were recorded in:
- Airfare tickets (–18.2%)
- Electricity (–4.3%)
- Milk, cheese, and eggs (–2.8%)
These declines had a combined impact of –0.5% on the HICP.
