The Municipality of Deçan has organized several activities to mark the 28th anniversary of the “Epic of Dukagjin,” which took place on March 24, 1998. On that day, fighters of the Kosovo Liberation Army resisted a siege by Serbian police forces in the village of Gllogjan.
The “Epic of Dukagjin” is considered the beginning of direct confrontations between the UÇK and Serbian forces in the Dukagjin Operational Zone, just before the escalation of the Kosovo War.
To commemorate this date, the Municipality of Deçan has scheduled the following activities:
- 12:00 – Exhibition by primary school students
- 15:00 – Exhibition dedicated to the “Epic of Dukagjin”
- 19:00 – Classical concert by Haxhi Zeka University
This date also coincides with NATO’s intervention in Kosovo, which played a significant role in ending the war.
