Robert Šebek, head of the parliamentary group of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) in the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, stated today that the recent incidents in Kula are a direct consequence of “dangerous rhetoric by high-ranking government officials” and called for an urgent response from the relevant authorities.
In a statement, Šebek described how “masked attackers wearing balaclavas and armed with sticks” targeted young political activists in Kula, including shootings and an organized ambush in the surrounding area.
“Just days after Vučević’s dangerous rhetoric, masked assailants escalated from words to violence, attacking young political activists who dared to fight for their municipality and openly criticize the government,” Šebek said.
He criticized the police for failing to immediately detain the armed attackers, who allegedly impersonated officials, noting that arrests were made only under pressure from local citizens.
“The Freedom and Justice Party calls on the police chief to promptly release the names, residences, and a full forensic report of the suspects, including paraffin glove analysis, to ensure accountability for the shootings,” Šebek added.
